CABE CEO named chief executive of the year

Dr John Hooper, the CEO of CABE (The Chartered Association of Building Engineers), has been announced as the UK Chief executive of the Year 2017 at the annual Association of Association Executives awards.

The Association of Association Executives is the largest community of Association Executives in Europe as well as having members in countries including Africa, India and the Middle East. Its members are from professional, scientific, academic, business and consumer-facing Associations, Societies, Federations, Councils, Chambers and other membership organisations from all industry sectors.

The Association Awards were established to recognise excellence in leadership, development and service in membership organisations amongst its 15,000 members and focus on excellence in Associations by their employees for their dedication and success.

At the Awards dinner at the Association Congress held in Manchester last month, Dr John Hooper was announced as the UK Chief Executive of the Year Award 2017. In making the award, the judges commented that during John’s tenure CABE had achieved a Royal Charter in only two years, had seen membership grow significantly and the organisation has become increasingly international.

“I’m delighted for the recognition for the whole CABE team in the successful development of the Chartered Association and its achievements over the last few years,” he said.

John is due to step down from the role of CABE CEO in April 2018 when he retires but will continue to mentor other professional bodies.
