Cala Homes eyes former Aberdeen office site

Silverburn House before it was demolished by Dem-Master

Cala Homes is considering plans to build 55 homes on the demolished Silverburn House site in Bridge of Don.

The developer has lodged a building warrant with Aberdeen City Council outlining the £5.5 million cost of a potential development.

Silverburn House on Claymore Drive, which formerly housed GE company Baker Hughes, was demolished in 2019.

Plans to deliver 119 new homes at the site were given the go-ahead in principle in 2022. Parklands View LLP also proposed shops, offices and food and drink venues.

However, there has been little progress since then and planning permission for those plans is due to expire in 2025.

A spokesperson for Cala Homes (North) told The Press & Journal: “Cala has created communities in Bridge of Don for many years and we often explore other opportunities in the area.

“Silverburn House is one of a number of sites that we are currently considering.”
