Cala launches community pledge in Bo’ness
Cala Homes (West) has marked progress on the delivery of its new neighbourhood in Bo’ness with a call for local nominations to be part of its dedicated community pledge.
Committed to bringing meaningful benefit to the communities it builds in, the Cala Homes Community Pledge supports local businesses and charities, facilitates volunteering drives, refurbishment projects and much more.
Each Community Pledge is designed around the local community and their priorities, and now the residents of Bo’ness have a unique opportunity to nominate initiatives and have their say.
Since launching in 2023, the Community Pledge has committed more than £200,000 of funding to support various community initiatives across the West of Scotland. Funding to date has supported local school projects, sports clubs, food banks and a local community hub to help transform the space for use by local groups.
The call-out in Bo’ness follows Cala’s purchase of the 38.9-acre site south of Crawfield Road in September 2025, where planning permission has been secured for 226 new homes, including 34 affordable properties. The development will offer a carefully designed mix of three- to five-bedroom homes with sustainable features such as air-source heating and EV charging.
The Crawfields has been designed as a community-shaped neighbourhood that will bring a wide range of benefits to both new residents and the wider Bo’ness community. The development will feature new landscaped green spaces enriched with existing woodland and meadow areas, alongside multi-use paths that create improved links between the John Muir Way and Linlithgow Road.
A new retail facility is proposed for the development, further enhancing local amenities, while a comprehensive biodiversity strategy will help to support and strengthen urban wildlife.
Michael Clements, land manager at Cala Homes (West), said: “Bo’ness has a strong sense of community and we want the addition of The Crawfields to build on that. Our Community Pledge is our commitment to delivering meaningful and lasting benefits for local people, which is why we’re asking residents to share their ideas and highlight organisations or projects they feel deserve support.
“Whether it’s improving local facilities, enhancing outdoor spaces, or supporting community programmes, we want this pledge to be shaped by the people of Bo’ness.”
