Persimmon North Scotland has doubled down on its support for Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross, having raised £38,000 in 2023

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) will continue as Persimmon North Scotland’s charity of choice for 2024, having been chosen by staff for a second year in a row.

In 2023, staff from the five-star builder organised a number of fundraising activities, from office bake sales to golf and football tournaments, as well as participating in larger events, including The Dundee Kiltwalk. The events gathered support from members of staff, friends, and family, as well as various sub-contractors.

The business raised a whopping £18,000, which was topped up by a £20,000 donation from the Persimmon Charitable Foundation, bringing the total to £38,000.

This year, members of staff at the Perth-based homebuilder’s headquarters aim to deliver bigger and better fundraising events throughout the year, which will see old favourites return and new additions added to the calendar.

CHAS has been offering full family support services for babies, children, and young people with life-shortening conditions for over 30 years. The charity provides a variety of assistance, from palliative care and family respite to support services in hospitals, hospices, and at home.

As well as supporting the charity’s ongoing work across Scotland, the funds raised by Persimmon staff will directly benefit Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross. The facility on Avenue Road has a range of facilities, including a hydrotherapy room, large accessible gardens, and space for both relaxation and fun for families.

James MacKay, managing director of Persimmon North Scotland, said: “We are delighted to once again support the fantastic work CHAS does in Kinross and across the country by making the organisation our charity of the year for the second year in a row.

“Our team is keen to support a charity that makes a real difference to people’s lives and staff are already working on a programme of fundraising activities throughout the year that will help us raise as much money as possible.”

Ruathy Donald, CHAS community fundraiser, said: “We were incredibly touched by the support, passion and generosity of the staff at Persimmon North Scotland last year, who raised a phenomenal £38,000 to help us support children and families at Rachel House, our hospice in Kinross.

“The variety of fundraising that the staff took on was amazing, and we especially enjoyed attending and meeting some of the staff at their golf day fundraiser in Kinross. We can’t thank Persimmons enough for their support and we are delighted to be selected as their charity again this year.”
