Dundee buildings set for £3m improvements

Over £3 million is being proposed to improve buildings across Dundee.

St Mary’s, St Ninian’s, Craigiebarns, St Pius and Barnhill primaries are included in tender reports for work involving roofs, doors & windows, and rewiring.

Upgrading of fire alarms at the Caird Hall is also included, along with the installation of cycle storage at the Change Centre.

Meanwhile, in a separate report, Dundee City Council’s Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee is being asked to approve the start of procurement exercises for further projects across the city.

These include the replacement of goods and passenger lifts at Dundee Contemporary Arts, WiFi installation at primaries and nurseries, work at the Mill O Mains PS ESA unit, toilet changing facilities at St John’s High School and toilet upgrades at Eastern Primary.

Committee convener Councillor Steven Rome said: “It is important that the council maintains its building stock through this multi-million-pound programme.

“As part of our commitment to community wealth building, we try to ensure that as much of the work goes to local firms as possible.

“This programme is also enhancing major attractions in our city like the Caird Hall and Dundee Contemporary Arts which play such an important part in our cultural sector.”

The committee meets on Monday April 22.
