Edinburgh student accommodation development on track and on budget for August opening

New student flat development nears completion, Wed, 29, March, 2017Crosslane Student Developments celebrated the topping out of The Old Printworks development in Edinburgh yesterday with the news that the project will open in time for the 2017/2018 academic year.

Work at the Bernard Terrace site commenced in January 2016 to develop a new, purpose-built, high specification, city centre scheme, comprising 44 studios and 193 cluster flat bedrooms ranging from three to nine bed clusters. In addition, there will be high quality communal facilities including a common room, meeting space, laundry facilities, gym and bike storage.

The topping out ceremony was conducted by Jon Stuart, director of Crosslane Student Developments, which is part of the Crosslane Group, and Grier Edmead, contracts manager at Ogilvie Construction.

The total development value of the property is approximately £31 million.



Commenting on the event, Jon Stewart said: “We are on track and on budget for The Old Printworks development at 20 Bernard Terrace, Edinburgh. We continue to assess potential opportunities to further grow our successful student accommodation business in the UK and Edinburgh itself, a city with strong supply/demand fundamentals for purpose-built student accommodation.”

Grier Edmead added: “This is a key milestone in the project, which is making excellent progress and will complete this summer. Our team has extensive specialist experience in building student accommodation and continues to work closely with Crosslane to deliver a building of the highest quality.”
