Sandy Goldie is celebrating clocking up an impressive 25 years with Ayrshire-based building services company James Frew.

The Kilmarnock man followed his father Jock into the firm in 1991 working as a labourer within the Modernisation Department.

Over the years he has steadily climbed the career ladder, working up from a labourer to a mate, then a fitter and is now foreman on DG One, which features a major refurbishment programme for South West Scotland’s largest Sport, Leisure and Entertainment Complex in Dumfries.

Roddy Frew, James Frew managing director, said: “Sandy is a real inspiration to us all – he has worked really hard over the years to get to his current position as one of our most respected foreman, overseeing a team of James Frew employees as well as multiple sub contractors on DG One. It is a really challenging and complex project and Sandy is doing a terrific job.”

To celebrate the career milestone Roddy presented Sandy with retail vouchers.

Sandy said: “I started with James Frew when I was 18 and I can honestly say I have never had any regrets. It is a great company to work for – even if you start at the bottom like I did, they will give you the training you need to succeed and there are lots of opportunities to progress.”

James Frew provides heating and maintenance services for over 40,000 residents within 33 housing associations throughout the Scottish central belt and Ayrshire. The company’s maintenance plan for homeowners, known as GasSure, also provides services for over 10,000 customers.

James Frew also offers integrated building services including plumbing, heating, mechanical services, gas maintenance and property upgrades for public and private sectors including design, installation and maintenance.
