Moray Council’s Building Standards team celebrates double success

Moray Council’s Building Standards team has achieved outstanding national recognition, securing two top honours at this year’s Building Standards Leaders Forum.

The service received both the National Performance Award for a Small Local Authority and the National Community Safety Award, highlighting excellence across core areas of service delivery and the team’s commitment to protecting communities.

These prestigious awards, presented by the Scottish Government, recognise high performance in delivering building warrant services, strong customer focus, and innovative approaches that enhance safety and service quality across Scotland.

The Performance Award reflects the team’s achievement against national targets set out in the Building Standards Performance Framework for Verifiers, while the Community Safety Award acknowledges initiatives that make a measurable difference to public safety.

Moray Council leader, Councillor Kathleen Robertson, said: “Congratulations to everyone in the Building Standards team. Delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service is a significant achievement in itself, but doing so while consistently meeting demanding national standards truly reflects the professionalism and dedication of the team.”

Moray Council chief executive, Karen Greaves BEM, added: “What stands out in this achievement is the real difference the team is making to people’s lives. Their approach to safety and service improvement has a direct impact on our communities, and I’m delighted to see that recognised at a national level.”
