Ossian Architects achieves B Corp certification

Edinburgh-based Ossian Architects has officially joined the global community of Certified B Corporations.

The B Corp certification recognises businesses that meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.

Ossian becomes one of fewer than ten architecture practices across the UK to earn the status, and, to their knowledge, the only small architecture practice in Scotland to do so.

For Ossian Architects, the year-long certification journey was an intensive and rewarding process that prompted a deep reflection on all aspects of how they work.

“We’re a small team of six, and this milestone feels significant for us just three years into our journey,” said Martin Flett, director at Ossian Architects. “It’s a rigorous process, but it aligns with values we’ve held from day one — that architecture should serve people, places, and the planet.”

The practice’s expertise in sustainability and conservation was a key factor in the assessment, which looks at everything from environmental impact to how companies engage with communities and treat employees.

“This certification reinforces our belief that architecture has a wider responsibility beyond buildings. It’s about contributing positively — socially, environmentally and ethically — to the world we’re part of,” Flett added in a post on LinkedIn.
