Persimmon apprentice shortlisted for Courier Business Awards
Casey Gardner
A talented young apprentice with Persimmon Homes North Scotland has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2025 Courier Business Awards.
Casey Gardner, a first-year painting and decorating apprentice working across Persimmon sites in Fife, has been recognised for her exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and dedication to her trade.
From transforming Persimmon show homes with vibrant finishes to reviving Kirkcaldy’s long-forgotten Links Market horse sculpture, Casey has already left her mark on both customers and the wider community. She also won the Scottish heat of the Painting and Decorating Association competition.
The Courier Business Awards, now in their 12th year and held in partnership with Henderson Loggie, celebrate excellence across Tayside, Fife and Stirling. This year saw almost 160 entries across a diverse range of sectors, with finalists chosen by a six-strong judging panel. Winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony on 24 October at the Apex City Quay Hotel in Dundee.
Speaking on her shortlisting, Casey Gardner said: “It’s such an honour to be recognised in The Courier Business Awards. My apprenticeship has already given me so many amazing opportunities, from working on live Persimmon sites to restoring the Links Market horse sculpture and preparing for competitions.
“I hope my journey inspires more young people – especially women – to consider a career in construction.”
William Smith, senior regional apprenticeship manager at Persimmon North Scotland, added: “Casey’s achievements by the end of the first year have been exceptional and unique.
“She’s dedicated, highly skilled, and a brilliant ambassador for the next generation of tradespeople. This shortlisting is richly deserved recognition of her talent and hard work.”
