Persimmon North Scotland has been announced as the sponsor for track events at this year’s Crieff Highland Gathering for the second year in a row.

The annual event, which first began in 1870, is held in the centre of Crieff at the iconic Market Park. The event has a full programme of traditional Highland games competitions on offer, including running, youth running, cycling, Highland dancing, heavyweights, light field, and tug o’ war.

In addition, piping performances take place throughout the day as well as the spine-tingling salute to the Chieftain. Over the years, previous chieftains have included famous faces such as Kenny Logan, Elaine C Smith and Ewan McGregor, whose father was a director of the event for over 30 years.

Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme – which supports good causes in the areas where they operate – has previously made donations to a range of local organisations, including Crieff Connexions, Friends of MacRosty Park and the Crieff at Christmas Group.

Norman O’Neill, chairman of Crieff Highland Gathering, said: “We are very pleased to work with and receive this important continued support from Persimmon Homes.

“Our Highland Gathering, which this year is on Sunday, August 18, 2024, is the highlight of the local Crieff calendar and widely recognised as Scotland’s Premier Highland Games.

“None of this would be possible without the fantastic support in sponsorship provided by a wide range of companies, such as Persimmon Homes, and we are indebted to James and his team for their support of the track events.”

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “We’re delighted to once again be supporting the Crieff Highland Gathering this year. As the track events sponsor, we are excited to continue our support for an iconic local event.

“Persimmon is committed to supporting the communities are operate in we want to help ensure the gathering goes from strength to strength – bringing people together and showcasing the very best that Crieff has to offer.”
