Persimmon brings teams together for Mental Health Awareness Day in Stirling

Persimmon Homes East Scotland hosted a dedicated Mental Health Awareness Day at its Brucefields development in Stirling, bringing together more than 100 staff, contractors and apprentices for a day focused on wellbeing, inclusion and support across the construction industry.

The event created a relaxed and welcoming environment on site, with a pizza oven serving up fresh slices alongside drinks and informal opportunities to connect. The day encouraged open conversations around mental health and highlighted the support available to those working in construction.

As part of the event, Persimmon welcomed Dyslexia Scotland, who the company has partnered with to raise awareness of dyslexia in the sector, an important issue given that around 40% of the construction workforce is estimated to have dyslexia. The charity shared insights and resources to help teams better understand and support neurodiversity on site.

Also in attendance was Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH), the company’s Charity of the Year, who provided guidance and materials to help individuals and teams prioritise mental wellbeing both at work and beyond.

Kevin Ferris, operations director of Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “We’re proud to be creating a culture where our people feel supported, heard and valued.
“Mental health is just as important as physical safety on site, and events like this help us build a more inclusive and caring environment across our developments.”
