Planning permission granted for £8.5m Renfrew housing development

View from Inchinnan Rd looking northAS Homes (Scotland) Ltd has been granted planning permission for a new £8.5 million development of 67 homes for social rent in Renfrew for Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association.

The homes are being built at Inchinnan Road, Western Park, on the site of the former Renfrew Junior FC pitch. The application was lodged with Renfrewshire Council in April 2016.

Of the 67 units, 33 will be flats and 34 will be houses. The houses will be a mixture of two storey, two and three bedroom, semi-detached and terraced houses. The blocks of two-bedroom flats will be three and four storeys high. The homes will be built using timber frame construction, which brings many benefits including quicker build times and energy efficiencies.

View from Inchinnan Rd looking NWPaul Kelly, managing director of AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd, said: “This development is great news for Renfrew and I am delighted that planning approval was granted – it will deliver a major economic boost, creating jobs and much-needed new social housing for the area. We aim to start work on site this month, with completion due in early 2018.

“This is our third housing development to gain planning permission in just a few months, to build a total of 180 homes for social rental and sale across the west of Scotland, so it’s a very busy and exciting time for AS Homes.”

View from Inchinnan Rd looking NEPat Cahill, director of Sanctuary Scotland, added: “We are thrilled to get the go-ahead to create more affordable housing in Renfrew.

“Our Braille Drive homes in the town are hugely popular and we expect an equally positive reaction to those built on Inchinnan Road.”
