The Murray Beith Murray partner was asked by ministers to co-lead the Scottish Government Conveyancing Review Working Group, which will undertake a focused analysis of Scotland’s residential conveyancing process.

Jill joined the residential property team at the law firm last month, returning after 15 years following terms at Burness Paull and Shoosmiths. 

She is the current chair of the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum, a non-executive director of the Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC), a member of the Law Society of Scotland Property Law Committee and a member of the Scottish Conveyancers Forum committee. She also tutors in conveyancing on the postgraduate DLP at Edinburgh University.

Jill was also a contributor to the recently completed Scottish Law Commission report on Tenement Law – Compulsory Owners’ Associations.

The remit of the new Scottish Government working group is to make recommendations which would result in a quicker and more efficient residential conveyancing system in Scotland, benefiting both purchasers and sellers.
