Garry Borland KC

Axiom Advocates, the joint legal sponsor of this year’s Scottish Construction Summit, has unveiled its line-up of speakers for the event.

Garry Borland KC and David Thomson KC will be taking part on the day, with the current plan built around a series of short, topic-led sessions – likely around fifteen minutes apiece – featuring speakers from both Axiom and joint legal sponsor Morton Fraser MacRoberts (MFMac).

Garry Borland KC graduated in law from Glasgow and Oxford universities. He called at the Scottish Bar in 2000 and took silk in 2014. He is also a member of the English Bar. He practises from Axiom Advocates in Edinburgh and 4 New Square in London. Garry specialises in commercial law, including disputes relating to construction, engineering and energy.

Garry has for many years been rated by Chambers UK Bar directory as a Band 1 silk for construction. The most recent edition of Chambers describes Garry as “the go-to person” for construction disputes in Scotland. Both the Legal 500 and Lexology also rate him as a leading KC for construction litigation.

Over the course of his career, Garry has acted in some of the most significant and high value construction and engineering disputes in Scotland and beyond. His clients have included many leading contractors, developers, consultants and infrastructure organisations, including ABB, AECOM, Aker, AMEC, Amey, Balfour Beatty, Bouygues, EDF, Engie, Ferrovial, Galliford Try, Kier, Laing O’Rourke, Lendlease, Morgan Sindall, Sir Robert McAlpine, Petrofac, Scottish Power, Spie, SSE and VA Tech Wabag.
