Scottish Government and real estate industry pair up to promote investment
An new initiative announced by the Scottish Government and Real Estate: Scotland on 15 September will see the formation of a new collaboration that will promote real estate investment opportunities in Scotland.
Supported by £100,000 Scottish Government funding and an initial private sector match funding of £108,000, it will see government and industry unite behind a proposition to present investment opportunities, enable engagement with key investors, and support the building of relationships.
The programme aims to create opportunities for investors to engage directly with the Scottish Government, local authorities and key Scottish real estate industry figures, as well as presenting investable projects which Scotland has to offer.
The Scottish Government’s ‘Programme for Government’, which was recently published, focuses on enhancing Scotland’s economy and acknowledges the role of the private sector in driving economic growth.
In conversation with senior delegates from the Scottish and wider UK Real Estate sector at the Real Estate:Scotland parliamentary reception, hosted by Paul McLennan MSP and attended by cross party supporters, Cameron Stott, chair of Real Estate: Scotland and head of Scotland for JLL, said: “We are delighted that the Scottish Government has recognised the value of a coordinated approach to promoting Scotland internationally for real estate investment and business opportunities …
“It gives us a platform to represent Scotland with one voice, showcasing the strength of our real estate sector, builds a platform for investment into Scotland and supports the sector to win business opportunities for Scottish real estate companies globally.”
Cabinet secretary for the Economy, Transport and Tourism, Stephen Flynn MSP commented: “The Scottish Government is working with Real Estate: Scotland and other public and private partners to bring investment to Scotland.
“Our joint participation in MIPIM 2027 (international property and investment conference), supported by £100,000 of Scottish Government funding and initial match funding of £108,000 from private sector partners, demonstrates that partnership in action.”
Elliot Robertson, chief executive officer at Robertson Group said: “Robertson has worked closely with Scottish Government and industry partners over the past year to help develop this approach, and we will continue to support its delivery.
“The opportunity now is for the industry to come together behind a shared set of priorities and make a strong case for investment in Scotland.”
Robertson added: “We would encourage organisations from across the sector to join us as partners in Invest Scotland and help build a stronger, more unified platform for showcasing Scotland internationally.”
