The Walk of Hope, held annually on the second Saturday in May, is a powerful and emotional event that brings people together to walk from the darkness at 04:00 into the light of the sunrise – symbolising the journey from darkness to hope.

As with previous years, representatives from Shawfair LLP joined the 5km walk beginning at Danderhall Miners Club weaving through the heart of the Midlothian and Shawfair community.

The Shawfair Community Fund’s contribution helped cover the cost of breakfast rolls and snack bars for the walkers, offering a warm gesture of thanks to participants for their commitment to raising awareness about suicide prevention.

This donation marks the second contribution from the Shawfair Community Fund, following a £500 grant to Danderhall & District Community Council for litter-picking equipment and Easter eggs for their community event. These early investments signal the Fund’s long-term commitment to improving local lives through meaningful support.

Launched to streamline and strengthen support for local initiatives, the Shawfair Community Fund is a partnership effort by Shawfair LLP and local housebuilders Cruden Homes, Miller Homes and Robertson Homes. The fund aims to make it easier for community groups to request and receive backing for projects that enhance local wellbeing.
