Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has been recognised with a prestigious accolade at the Scottish Green Apple Environment Awards, underscoring the homebuilder’s commitment to driving meaningful environmental progress across its operations.

The Scottish Green Apple Environment Awards recognise, reward and promote excellence in environmental sustainability – exclusively for companies and organisations operating in Scotland that are working to protect the environment.

The team from East Scotland secured the National Gold Winner award in the Building and Construction category for an innovative waste-reduction project delivered in partnership with Reconomy, a leading provider of sustainable waste and resource management solutions.

The award-winning initiative focuses on improving waste segregation on construction sites and enhancing education through an accessible video-based toolbox talk. By aligning people, processes and technology, the project aims to significantly reduce construction waste and embed sustainable behaviours across Taylor Wimpey’s operations.

The success of the pilot has set a new benchmark for excellence, collaboration and innovation, with plans to roll out the model across Taylor Wimpey’s 22 business units throughout the UK.

Taylor Wimpey continues to prioritise the environmental impact of its operations and remains committed to delivering on its environmental targets and Net Zero Transition Plan. This project represents a key step in replicating best practice across the business and accelerating progress towards long-term sustainability goals.

Karen Malt, project manager and sustainability champion for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition. The project shows what’s possible when we combine practical innovation with strong collaboration. By giving our site teams the tools and knowledge they need, we’re already seeing real, measurable improvements — and this is only the beginning. We’re excited about the potential to scale this across the wider business and continue driving positive environmental change.”

Terry Wootton, corporate account manager for Reconomy, added: “Working alongside Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, on this initiative, has been a fantastic example of partnership in action. Together, we’ve created training tools and processes that deliver genuine impact on the ground. We look forward to supporting the wider rollout and helping more regions achieve similar results.”
