Eight volunteers from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland recently spent a day supporting Woodmill High School’s garden allotment project in Dunfermline, further strengthening the company’s commitment to community engagement and sustainability.
The team rolled up their sleeves to help develop the school’s outdoor space, assisting with tasks such as preparing raised flowerbeds, clearing planting areas, which will support the students with gardening activities when they return after the summer holidays. The staff’s efforts are part of Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s ongoing support for the project, which began with a £1,000 donation earlier this summer.
Becci Barr, options co-ordinator at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, who organised the staff volunteering day, said: “We’re proud of our staff volunteers who dedicated their time to support Woodmill High School’s allotment. It’s inspiring to see how this initiative is growing - literally and figuratively - and we’re delighted to be part of it. Projects like this bring real value to young people and the wider community.”
Louise Shearer, pupil support assistant and lead on the allotment project, added: “Having Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s volunteers on site was a fantastic boost. Their help made a real difference, and it was great to have their expertise to create new raised flowerbeds for our students to plant up when they return from the summer holidays. It was a real pleasure to work alongside professionals who care about our community.
“The allotment is a project that is close to many at Woodmill High School, and we are fully committed to ensuring that it continues to be a space where learning, wellbeing, and connection flourish.”
This initiative is part of Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s broader support for the Dunfermline community, including its forthcoming Whitefields development, where new homes will go on sale in early 2026.
