Veitchi Group returns to the Clyde with new HQ

Veitchi GroupOne of Scotland’s largest construction industry sub-contractors is returning home to Clydeside after 50 years away.

After seeing pre-tax profits rise 26 per cent last year and turnover hit £37 million, Veitchi Group is continuing to grow with a new head office on the banks of the Clyde.

The firm, which employs 320, is moving back to where it incorporated in 1917 after acquiring a 20,000 sq ft building at the Gateway Glasgow development in Cambuslang.

The move away from their four buildings in Rutherglen’s Bouverie Street, where they have been for the last 50 years, marks a return to Clydeside where the company first originated.

Veitchi Group’s managing director, Jim Preston, said: “We’re pleased to bring positive news to the area with jobs, employment and investment at a time when there is further uncertainty of jobs on the Clydeside.

“Our new headquarters are a prudent acquisition by the group allowing us to consolidate the head office and four Veitchi business divisions, whilst also giving us room for future expansion.”

Speaking on the firm’s latest results, Preston said profits are up due to “the group’s growing geographical order book and its burgeoning Metframe business”.
