Veitchi Group reveals charity fund achievements during centenary year

Veitchi Gives, a charitable initiative set up by the Veitchi Group to mark the firm’s 100th anniversary, has raised nearly £35,000 for its 17 chosen charities.

The Cambuslang-based construction sub-contactor achieved the milestone by staging over 25 fundraising events during 2017, smashing its fundraising target of £25,000 in the process.

The events included a Zumbathon, walking and camping the West Highland Way, a branch-wide spinathon and golf day, whilst staff took park in various 5km and 10km road races.

Veitchi’s 332 staff, based in 12 offices across Scotland and the north west of England, also managed to donate 125 food boxes to local food banks and pledge 40 pints of blood.

The year-long fundraising efforts culminated on December 21 at the Veitchi Christmas Lunch, Raffle and Auction.

“We are really proud of what we have managed to achieve as an organisation on behalf of so many great causes,” said group managing director, Jim Preston.

“I would like to thank each and every one of our staff, suppliers and business partners for the efforts they have made to make our centenary year truly memorable and worthy of this historic organisation.”

And whilst Veitchi Gives enjoyed a successful 2017, several of the group’s five divisions also recently reported that they too are in rude health.

Veitchi Interiors, Scotland’s only approved installer of Metframe; a lightweight steel structure built off site and delivered in pre-panelised form, is working its way through an order book worth £7 million.

Meanwhile, the firm’s two flooring divsions, Veitchi Flooring and Veitchi Industrial Flooring, have recently completed contracts valued at £2m and £700,000 respectively.

“These divisions continue to excel in their respective fields and we have a pipeline of exciting projects coming up during 2018,” added Mr Preston.
