Xburo accelerates growth with two new appointments

Sagar MacKenzie and Yvonne Thompson

The engineering consultancy Xburo has ramped up its growth plans with two senior appointments, boosting its leadership team.

Sagar MacKenzie, finance director, and Yvonne Thompson, people & talent director, enter the leadership team under the stewardship of founders Thomas Brady and Michael Gribben.

MacKenzie, formerly chief financial officer of Tag Digital, brings a background in financial leadership, strategic planning and operational scale-up across professional services, consultancy and people-led businesses.

Thompson will spearhead the consultancy’s recruitment plan, attracting talent as the business develops.

Thompson has a background in influencing people strategies.

The appointments are part of plans to grow the firm’s position in the built environment market and scale its operations.

Xburo collaborated with Chiltern Capital earlier in 2026 to support its growth strategy.

Currently, a recruitment drive is underway, with the intention of making the consultancy one of the UK’s most sought-after employers for engineering professionals.

Xburo director, Michael Gribben, said: “This is the first phase of our growth plan as we transition into a leading national specialist in asset engineering, design and technical advisory for the built environment.

“Key to our success has been senior expertise that solves complex engineering challenges in some of the UK’s most demanding environments, including critical national infrastructure.”

Gribben added: “We are building these capabilities by creating opportunities for our expert engineers, and by seeking engineers who will play an active role in taking Xburo forward as we leverage the opportunities we have with our investment partner.”

The consultancy is recruiting senior engineers who have an entrepreneurial outlook and a genuine stake in seeing the consultancy fulfil its objectives.

Looking ahead, the consultancy will broaden its service offering within its key sectors of public healthcare, defence, education and commercial.

Appointments to national frameworks for critical infrastructure, resilience preparation at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and several technical due diligence (TDD) projects supporting acquisitions are among the recent contracts awarded.

The firm is searching for engineers to help with the delivery of the pipeline of work.
