The cost of an Angus schools project has increased by more than £1.6 million before a brick has been laid. The rising cost of the Arbroath Schools Project will go before councillors at a meeting today, during which the aftershock of Muirfield Contracts’ demise will be felt.

The construction of the new Timmergreens and Warddykes primary schools in Arbroath has been delayed by around six weeks because of a contractual issue with a contractor. Work on the £11 million project to replace the schools will now start in March.

A £5 million hydro scheme for one of Scotland’s most protected natural sites has been given the green light by Angus councillors.

Detailed plans for 80 homes and the possible provision of a new health centre at Friockheim have now been lodged with Angus Council. The Evening Telegraph reports that Guild Homes (Tayside) Ltd is seeking approval for the development of 80 houses, including 16 affordable properties, along with open
