Cole Fenton will join the homebuilder as an apprentice joiner, turning his passion for woodworking into the start of a career in construction.

There is a strong family connection to the business, with Cole’s father, Ryan Fenton, working as a contracts manager with Persimmon Homes North Scotland.

Cole will be based in Dundee, where he will gain hands-on experience at the Ballumbie development, working alongside experienced tradespeople on site while learning on the job.

Alongside his practical training, he will study for his SVQ Level 6 qualification at Dundee & Angus College, combining classroom learning with real-world experience.

The company has also provided Cole with the tools and equipment needed ahead of his start date to ensure he is ready for his apprenticeship.

Ryan Fenton, contracts manager at Persimmon Homes North Scotland and Cole’s father, said: “It’s a really proud moment to see Cole about to start his apprenticeship this August. He’s worked hard to get here and has always had a natural interest in joinery. To now see him begin his career with the company is something the whole family is proud of. He’s in good hands on site and I’m looking forward to watching him develop his skills.”

Cole said: “I’m really excited to get started on site in Dundee. I’ve always enjoyed working with wood, and this is a great opportunity to turn that into a career. Having my dad in the business has been a big inspiration, and I’m looking forward to learning from experienced tradespeople.”
