Dandara East Scotland has donated £250 to support the return of the Dalkeith Festival after a two-year absence during the pandemic.

The money will be used to help fund the children’s bouncy castle and slide at the event which will be held this Saturday 6th August from 1pm at Kings Park in the town where the housebuilder has a development, Eskbank Gardens.

The inflatables are likely to be popular attractions at the festival which will include a fun fair, performances from local young musicians and dancers, pony rides and face painting.

Margot Russell, secretary of the Dalkeith Festival committee, said: “Many families have had a tough few years and now, with the cost-of-living crisis, things are very hard for a lot of people. We are trying in a small way to bring some cheer to difficult times.

“We had to cancel the festival twice, so we are pleased to be able to host the event again this summer. We are so grateful to Dandara and all of our sponsors as we depend entirely on donations to hold the festival.”

Although most activities were halted during the pandemic, the committee were able to host a Christmas lights switch on with Santa in December with carols from Kings Park Primary. The event’s success encouraged the team to re-establish the Dalkeith Festival.

Lisa Archibald, head of sales at Dandara East Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to be able to support the festival which is a great initiative to unite the local community.

“Many of our buyers at Eskbank Gardens near Dalkeith moved in during the lockdowns and haven’t had much of an opportunity yet to get to know their neighbours or really experience the lifestyle on offer in the area.

“If the past few years have taught us anything it is the importance of our local communities, and I am sure the festival will be an enormous success.”

Eskbank Gardens is located south of Edinburgh in the commuter town of Eskbank. With Dalkeith just under two miles away, buyers will benefit from handy local amenities, high street shops, restaurants, and the green open space of King’s Park.
