Christmas has come early for the children and families supported by Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC), thanks to a gift from independent housebuilder Dandara.

With developments across East Scotland, the housebuilder has donated £500 to the charity, along with a selection of Christmas gifts, kindly organised by the staff at Dandara East Scotland.

ECHC transforms the experiences of children in hospital, providing a programme of daily arts activities, mental wellbeing support, youth work, and life changing medical equipment for children and their families who need it most.

The charity will use the donation to continue offering support to families with children in hospital and by giving the toys as gifts to those who may be spending Christmas away from home.

Kate Dixon, corporate partnerships lead from ECHC, said: “Dandara’s generosity will ensure that we can continue providing vital support and resources to families and children, bringing joy at what is often an uncertain and difficult time.

“No one wants to be in hospital, especially at Christmas, but for those who have to be, ECHC is there alongside our wonderful NHS colleagues to bring festive fun and spread cheer. We can only do this with the help of wonderful supporters like Dandara so would like to say an enormous thank you to them for donating this Christmas!”

Tony Williamson, sales director at Dandara East Scotland, added: “We hope this gift offers cheer to the children in hospital and to their families. It is a privilege to support these incredibly strong and resilient children this Christmas season. Happy Christmas from all of us at Dandara!”
