Taylor Wimpey West Scotland marked International Women’s Day 2026 with an inspiring visit from Scottish football legend Rose Reilly MBE, who joined the team for an engaging conversation about resilience, ambition, and breaking barriers in male-dominated industries.

Rose, widely regarded as one of Scotland’s greatest footballers, shared stories from her remarkable career. Born and raised in Stewarton, she started playing football as a young girl, often joining the boys’ teams because there were no opportunities for girls at the time.

Her talent and determination took her from local pitches in Ayrshire to a pioneering professional career across Europe, where she won league titles in Italy and France and notably lifted the Women’s World Cup with Italy in 1984. Her journey remains a powerful symbol of what can be achieved when passion meets perseverance.

The visit formed part of Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s ongoing commitment to championing women across the business and encouraging more women to consider careers in construction and housebuilding.

Rose Reilly MBE said: “When I started out, I was told that football wasn’t a game for girls - but I knew in my heart that it was my game. If you have a dream, don’t let anyone put limits on it. Believe in yourself, work hard, and keep going, even when the path isn’t easy. You never know who you might inspire by refusing to give up.”

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, added: “We were honoured to welcome Rose to our team for International Women’s Day. Her story highlights how much women can achieve when they are supported and encouraged to pursue their ambitions. At Taylor Wimpey, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive, develop, and help shape the future of our industry.”
