The works include an upgrade of the full roofing system with new insulation and covering and curtain walling/window/door replacements to certain areas.

Internal refurbishment works will also take place throughout the school including upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems, all toilets and changing facilities, full replacement kitchen, flooring, ceilings and decoration.

The works are expected to start in a few weeks, allowing the school time to settle in after an extended absence of pupils.

John Aitchison, Maxi Construction’s managing director, said: “This is Maxi Construction’s 15th contract award over the past three years from the City of Edinburgh Council for construction works to its school estate. The value of these contracts awarded totals over £16m and represents an important part of the company’s workload.”

The project team includes contract administrator, principal designer and quantity surveyor Capita Real Estate and infrastructure and mechanical & electrical engineers Harley Haddow.
