Persimmon Homes West Scotland has completed the purchase of land in Overtown, Wishaw, paving the way for a major residential development that will deliver 601 new homes.

The development will offer a wide mix of house types, ranging from two-bedroom terraced homes to five-bedroom detached properties, providing modern and efficient living options for local families, downsizers, and first-time buyers.

All homes will be built to the latest building regulations, with electric vehicle charging points, photovoltaic panels, and sustainable non-gas heating solutions – including air source heat pumps – installed as standard.

Construction is due to begin in September 2025, with Persimmon making a £3 million education contribution to North Lanarkshire Council and undertaking a range of key infrastructure improvements to enhance connectivity and road safety. These include the installation of signalised junctions at Netherton Road and Overtown Cross, as well as upgrades to two nearby roundabouts.

Craig Moore, land director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “We’re proud to be investing in Overtown and delivering a development that will provide hundreds of high-quality, energy-efficient homes for the local community.

“With a wide range of house types and future-focused sustainability features as standard, we’re not only addressing housing need but also helping families and first-time buyers into more affordable, lower-carbon homes.

“This development will also bring significant infrastructure improvements and investment in local services, helping support a vibrant and connected community for years to come.”
