Taylor Wimpey East Scotland secures planning for 87 affordable homes at Whitefields

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has secured an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) detailed planning consent from Fife Council for 87 new affordable homes at Whitefields in North Dunfermline, marking a further major milestone in the delivery of Phase 1 of this transformational new community in North Dunfermline.

The affordable homes will be made available through Kingdom Housing Association, offering a mix of 24 two-bedroom apartments and 13 two and three-bedroom homes for Mid-Market Rent, as well as a range of 50 two, three, four and five-bedroom Social Rent homes. Construction of the first new homes is expected to begin later this year.

This development forms a key part of Phase 1 of the Whitefields masterplan, which will ultimately deliver around 1,400 new homes, including affordable properties, alongside a wide range of community benefits. Once complete, Whitefields will become a vibrant new neighbourhood featuring:

  • A new primary school
  • Local shops and community facilities
  • Green open spaces
  • Two equipped play areas
  • An informal kick-about space
  • Significant improvements to local transport infrastructure

Pauline Mills, technical director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We’re delighted to have secured planning consent for the first affordable homes at Whitefields.

“This is another important step in bringing forward a high-quality, sustainable new community for North Dunfermline.

“Our partnership with Kingdom Housing Association ensures that a diverse range of affordable homes will be available from the outset, helping to meet local housing needs and supporting the long-term vision for Whitefields.”

Tricia Hill, Kingdom’s development and sustainability director, added: “We welcome this planning approval and are looking forward to working with Taylor Wimpey East Scotland to deliver the first affordable homes at Whitefields.

“The mix of Mid-Market Rent and Social Rent properties will provide much-needed, energy-efficient homes in Dunfermline. Whitefields represents a significant investment in the area, and we’re proud to be part of the creation of a well-connected and inclusive new community, which is central to our mission of providing more than a home.”
