Taylor Wimpey West Scotland makes AMSC application for new development in Polmont

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has announced that an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) planning application has been submitted to Falkirk Council for a proposed development of new homes, located off Main Street in Polmont.

The application outlines plans for a vibrant new community comprising 155 homes, including 116 private homes in a mix of three and four bedroom styles from Taylor Wimpey’s new national range of house types, and 39 affordable properties in a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes.

The proposed development aims to offer a diverse mix of homes that are designed to cater to a wide range of buyers, from first-time homeowners to growing families.

It also forms part of a broader master plan that will deliver approximately 500 homes locally, including 25% affordable housing, alongside expansive parkland and a mixed-use commercial area. The heart of the master plan will feature a central park and an attractive wetland area, connected to a network of green spaces, play areas, and recreational facilities.

Key features of the proposed development include:

  • A variety of house types and styles, including terraced, semi-detached, and detached homes.
  • Affordable homes.
  • Sustainable heating solution through the use of a Ground Source Heat Network.
  • Enhanced biodiversity with hedgehog highways, bug hotels, bird boxes, and bee bricks.
  • Safe and accessible footpath links throughout the development.
  • Excellent connectivity to local amenities, including proximity to the M9 motorway, local bus services, and Polmont train station.

Martin Findlay, technical director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, commented: “This site is allocated within the Falkirk Local Development Plan 2 as both a Strategic Growth Area and Strategic Business Location, reinforcing its importance in supporting the region’s housing and economic growth. With that in mind, we are pleased to have reached this significant milestone in delivering our vision for the Polmont area.

“Our proposal aims to create a well-connected, sustainable community that not only provides high-quality new homes but also enhances the local environment and supports long-term growth. We look forward to working with Falkirk Council and the local community as the application progresses.”
