Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has achieved the prestigious Investors in People Gold Accreditation - edging it into the exclusive position of becoming one of just a handful of Scottish businesses to have secured this award from the most successful framework for business improvement through people in the UK.

This is a significant accreditation that shows a forward-thinking and expansive approach to cascading best practice through every level of the business, as well as continuous improvement over the past two years following the silver accreditation that was secured in May 2013.

Commenting on the award, Willie Burns, managing director, said: “Achieving the Investors in People Gold Accreditation gives us the reassurance that we’re deploying the best ways of working for both our internal and external customers and doing most things right – in fact it’s a great health-check for our business.

“We’re leading the way in the wider housebuilding industry being amongst just a few businesses to achieve gold accreditation, so this award is an effective demonstration to our industry partners of how we like to work in a way that maximises our effectiveness whilst investing in our team to deliver the best results they can.”

Tom Hutchison, Investors in People lead specialist for Investors in People Scotland, added: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Taylor Wimpey West Scotland for achieving the Gold Award, the highest possible within the existing Investors in People Framework.

“This is a significant achievement and reflects the highly developed people centred approach and the open, inclusive management style adopted across the business both within the office and on site.

“People have very high levels of skill, work as cohesive teams, are conscientious, thoughtful, bright and enthusiastic. The robust communications and continuous improvement strategy has ensured that the vast majority of people are fully engaged, empowered and recognised driving high levels of motivation throughout the business.”

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s regional office is based in Paisley, and it boasts a network of 18 current developments of new homes across the west of Scotland in Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, Falkirk, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and West Lothian. The business has 203 employees across a number of disciplines excluding on-site contractors.
