A high level feasibility study into the construction of a bridge or tunnel across the Corran Narrows in West Lochaber has concluded that a fixed link is a viable proposition from an engineering, planning and economic perspective that deserves more detailed examination and costing.

A study is underway into the feasibility of replacing Scotland’s second busiest ferry service with a fixed link bridge or tunnel. The Highland Council, HITRANS and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) are joint funding the study at the Corran Narrows in Lochaber.

A £1.3 million renovation of the A-listed Mauldslie Bridge in South Lanarkshire is well under way with great care and consideration being given to the historical significance of the landmark and the local wildlife.
